We have different ways for you to file your taxes!

Starting February 2026, our United Way of Merced site will offer walk-ins every Saturday until May 2026. The site will be open from 9 AM - 3 PM. You will have to join the day-of waitlist via phone or in person!

We strive to be open every Saturday until the end of tax season. That being said, unforeseen circumstances do happen, and if we do have to be closed, we will update you on our socials and our website.

VITA will be CLOSED Saturday, April 4th, due to the Easter Holiday

If Saturdays do not work for you, we have six sites that offer appointments during the week. Los Banos, Mariposa, Merced, and Winton are the cities where our sites are available for appointments.

*The United Way of Merced site prioritizes appointments for elderly and disabled individuals in the month of February.In March, we have open availability for all.

Please call to verify availability, if you wish to have a February appointment are not elderly nor disabled

We know it can be difficult to visit our in-person VITA site if you don’t live in Merced.

Get Your Refund is a free virtual service supported by the IRS and the U.S. Department of Treasury that helps low-income households across the US receive high-quality tax services from the convenience of your home.

All you need to do is follow our direct link to Get Your Refund, create an account, upload all your tax documents, and once you do, one of our tax preparers will begin working on your return!

**Remember to use our direct link if you want your taxes prepared by your local VITA site! Not using our direct link allows any VITA site in the country to prepare your taxes!
